Suggested Novels, Short Stories, or Films for the Comparison-Contrast Essay

Background information on authors and novels can be found in online databases like the Literature Resource Center and the Literature Online (LION).  Reviews can be found in TLS (The Times Literary Supplement) or the New York Review of Books, and some of the novels can be found online through the NetLibrary database.  All of these databases are available through the Halle library website.  Basic reader reactions, descriptions of the novels, and some short reviews can be found online at Amazon.  If the books are not available at the Halle library, use the Wolrdcat database to locate the complete bibliographic information and then Interlibrary Loan them from other libraries.

For information about cinema, the Internet Movie Database is invaluable.  Many films are avialbel to check out through the Halle library.  Simply do a keyword search of “videorecording” (one word) with whatever you are interested in.
