Conferences
***2007 LOEX Conference***, “Uncharted Waters: Tapping the Depths of Our Community to Enhance Learning.” It will be held May 3-5 in San Diego, CA. Currently, there is a Call for Proposals – submit yours today!
Deadline for proposal submission is November 10, 2006.
Registration will be Friday, February 9, 2007.
ACRL Fall Virtual Institute, "The User at the Center." It will be held completely online on November 9, 2006. Registration materials are online and October 26, 2006 is the advance registration deadline.
American Library Association's Midwinter Meeting will be held in Seattle, WA, January 19-24, 2007. Early Bird Registration is now open.
Augustana 6th Annual Information Literacy Workshop “Supporting Undergraduate Research Experiences.” You are invited to join the Augustana Faculty Library of the University of Alberta for their workshop. It is Thursday, November 16, 2006.
LILAC 2007 (Librarians' Information Literacy Annual Conference) will be held in Manchester, England, March 26-28 2007. Bookings and the call for papers are now open.
EBSCO ALA Conference Scholarship: $1,000 Award. EBSCO ALA Conference Sponsorship provides ten $1,000 awards for actual reimbursed expenses to help librarians attend ALA 's Annual Conference. To apply for this award, applicants must submit an essay of no more than 250 words addressing, "How will attending this ALA Conference contribute to your professional development?" The award is donated by EBSCO Subscription Services. Deadline: Postmarked by Dec 1, 2006.
3M/New Members Roundtable ALA Conference Grant: The purpose of the 3M/NMRT Professional Development Grant is to encourage professional development and participation by new ALA members in national ALA and NMRT activities. The 2007 grant will help finance attendance at the ALA Annual Conference in Washington D.C. It covers round trip airfare, lodging, conference registration fees and some incidental expenses. Deadline: December 15, 2006.

The ACRL is offering a Creating the One Shot Library Workshop Step-by-Step workshop in conjunction with the 2007 American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter Meeting in Seattle on January 19, 2007.
Assessing Student Learning Outcomes: an ACRL Online Seminar. October 30-November 19, 2006. Registration for this seminar is open; limited space is available. ACRL and ALA members will receive a registration discount.
Effective Collaboration for Campus-wide Information Literacy: The Blended Librarian’s Perspective on How To Make It Work. November 1-8, 2006. This is a 2-week ACRL/TLT Group workshop and includes live Webcasts plus access to documents and discussion boards.
ACRL's Institute for Information Literacy (IIL) invites you to apply for its first international IIL Immersion program which will be held at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, August 5-10, 2007. Immersion '07 will be four-and-one-half days of intensive training and education for academic librarians. December 1, 2006, is the deadline to apply.
Call for papers: LOEX Quarterly
Reach out to the LOEX membership and share your instruction ideas and innovations. The focus is on substantive, but practical articles, so do not miss an opportunity to share with others your or your library’s interesting programs, experiences, ideas or insights. Submissions are relatively short: between 700-1500 words.

It is a practical journal that offers innovative strategies and creative solutions to help your undergraduate and small college library achieve greater efficiency. Evidence Based Library and Information Practice is a peer reviewed, open access journal published quarterly by the University of Alberta Learning Services . EBLIP seeks papers (original research, commentaries) on areas such as: Qualitative and quantitative research, Management and Administration issues related to EBP, Research Tools (statistics, data collection methods, etc.) and Research education in library schools.
