Intro/Overview
For this dialogue project, I have decided to use my friend Matt as the other person speaking other than me. This is the person that I speak to the most other than my girlfriend; therefore, I feel that out of all the people that I could’ve chose, our dialogue would be the most interesting to scribe.
I found a way to speak about rhetoric would be to refer to the recent series of Tiger’s games versus Oakland when they were fighting for the Pennant. The idea that everyone expected there to be a tough match between the two teams, resulting in multiple wins and loses on both sides until one team became victorious, but turning out that the Tiger’s won four straight games in a row with no loss was in itself an example of rhetoric.

Dialogue between my friend Matt and I
(Dialogue takes place in my friend Matt’s living room)
MATT: You know what kills me Chris? CHRIS: What’s that?
MATT: When the Tigers and Oakland went into the playoff games for the Pennant, everybody expected there to be a big competition between the two teams.
CHRIS: Yeah?
MATT: Then comes the games, and instead of there being wins and losses from both teams, the Tigers won four straight games defeating Oakland’s team with absolutely no competition!
CHRIS: I get what you’re saying, that situation had rhetoric written all over it!
MATT: Who? Roderick? There aren’t any players on the Tigers named Roderick!
CHRIS: No, not Roderick! I said RHETORIC!
MATT: What’s that? One of your fancy college terms!
CHRIS: *laughs* You could say that! Rhetoric is a term used to describe a scenario of persuasion.
MATT: That makes absolutely no f*cking sense!
CHRIS: Okay, when it comes to the Tigers, the fans were swayed into thinking that there would be a big face-off competition between both teams, making it impossible for people to know who is going to win from the start. All of sudden, the Tigers win all the games with no barely any challenge at all from the other team. So to make a long story short, the fans were persuaded that the games were going to go back and forth, but it ended up resulting in a landside victory.
MATT: I might get what you’re saying, but give me another example that doesn’t relate to the Tigers since I don’t really know shit about them other than what’s going on right now!
CHRIS: Okay, remember that movie Pulp Fiction that we saw last night?
MATT: Yeah?
CHRIS: Remember when Marcellus Wallace paid off Butch to throw that boxing match?
MATT: Is Marcellus Wallace the guy who said that if Butch was in China that we wanted a dude in a bowl of rice to pop up and bust a cap in his ass?
CHRIS: *laughs* yeah, that's the guy! But anyway, Butch was suppose to lose that fight, but ended up happening was that Butch ended up winning the fight, and on top of that, killed the other opponent in the ring! MATT: So if i were to get up off this couch right now and get all 7 mile on you and bust a cap in your ass, that would be rhetoric!? *laughs*
CHRIS: No, that would just be a reason for me to kick your Mexicant ass if the bullet missed *laughs*
MATT: *laughs*
CHRIS: But seriously, the whole thing about Pulp Fiction was that the scenario we just discussed had to do with the clearly defined persuasion. So that's your college lesson for today!
MATT: Yessir! Say it Chris, say it!
CHRIS: YESSIR!
MATT: *laughs*

Explanation/Description
The whole dialogue takes place at my friend Matt’s house, and the people speaking in the dialogue are myself and Matt. The whole dialogue is in a not-so-serious sarcastic tone, yet funny ha! ha! at the same time.
The segue that is used in this dialogue is the discussion Matt and myself are having about the Tiger's winning the pennant. After finishing that discussion, and saying as much about 'rhetoric' as i can, we move onto a different topic that we both are knowledgable in (movies) and relate 'rhetoric' to that.
I added the part of the conversation where Matt wants me to repeat a catch phrase (yessir!) because part of comedic conection that Matt and I have. He's always trying to get me to repeat impersonations of other people, and it is so common that i put it in the dialogue.
