Note Taking

Note taking is where you record the information you have read. Good notes help you remember the material you've read. As you examine each source you want to use in your paper, try to summarize the information in your own words. Note taking summarizes the information you gather from various sources. While note taking, paraphase the ideas gathered in your research. Paraphrasing or putting what the author said in your own words will help you understand your topic. Careful note taking is essential throughout the research process. During the note taking phase of the research process, take careful notes on the material you will use for your paper. Note taking helps you begin to write your paper. The notes you take will be helpful in organizing and writing your research paper.
