Style/ Navigation

The overall style of this page is a bit scattered and not so pleasing to the eye.  When you first log on there is an ad blinking and telling you that you are a winner, it’s very annoying and according to From Sucky to Savvy the artist of this page must have been under a virtual rock for the past two years.

Navigating through the site was pretty easy; it is composed of mostly links that take you to other informative sites about Edgar Allen Poe.  The links on the page are grouped into four categories, biographical pages, general Poe sites, criticism, and miscellaneous. The format, style, and setup of the page are all pretty general and also easy to follow. Along with general Poe information there is an area with all the works written by Poe in alphabetical order.

The overall style and navigation of this page gets about three out of four stars.

Content/ biography/ selected works

Needless to say the content of the page is plentiful and there is a plethora of information to be seen from each link on the page.  Along with the summary of Poe’s life as a whole there are many other links to biographical sites on the page, which I thought was a very good idea in terms of providing information for site visitors.

The biographical sites are not only about Poe alone, which I found interesting, there are sites listed that are dedicated to Poe’s mother and other people in his life. I found the summary of Poe’s life very informative and full of biographical information.

All of Poe’s works happen to be listed on this page. This is an awesome way to dedicate a website to someone. I found myself on this page for hours trying to read everything that Poe had written.

The overall content of this page gets four out of four stars.

Links/ validity

The links on this page actually make the page, there are quite of few of them but I think that there are too many. The page itself is made up of links that direct you to other information about Poe.

Besides the links there aren’t many things on the page that could be considered valid. It seems to me that the page was made by a fan of Poe’s and is mostly composed of links to other sites who seemingly have valid information.

The overall links portion of this page get four out of four stars and the validity portion gets three out of four stars.

Other/ fun things

As for other information on the page, the creator of the page does have a link to information and pictures about a trip that he had taken to visit the 1998 Edgar Allen Poe birthday celebration. I found this very interesting and it also showed his interest in what he was doing with the page.

Some fun things on the page for me are the recording of the famous poem by Poe titled The Raven and a 3D model of the place where Poe is buried.

The site as a whole is a great site but I think that one would have to be interested in poetry and maybe even fascinated with Poe, as the creator of the website seems to be.

For the fun things and other content on this page I would give this section three out of four stars.

For my overall rating of Qrisse's Edgar Allen Poe Pages I will give this site three stars. It is very well put together but there isn’t much content on the site itself; you have to click on links to get any real information.
