My name is Lucas Holt. I'm a computer science major at Eastern Michigan University. I work
for the computer science department as a "computer guru". My job duties include administering
two Mac OS X Server based xserves, an xserve RAID, a Windows 2003 R2 server,
and a FreeBSD 6.2 web server. I work with Windows and Mac OS based desktop systems
including iMacs, PowerMacs, and Dell Optiplex systems.
I've been married since 2000 to my lovely wife Caryn. We have three cats named
Midnight, Henry and Tigress. We moved to the area in 2006 from Kalamazoo. I attended
Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo Valley Community College. I'm originally from
Flint.
I currently work on two open source projects, and one close sourced game mod called FalckonET. The FalckonET mod is for the game Enemy Territory. I port the mod to the Macintosh. I founded Just Journal, a free blogging service, and MidnightBSD which is an open source desktop operating system.
Prior to starting college, I worked at an ISP and consulting company called Avalon Systems, Inc. in Flint, Michigan. I was a systems administrator in charge of Windows systems, tier two technical support, and a web designer. I started learning ASP (Active Server Pages) and Visual Basic during my time at ASI. My interest in programming lead me into computer science studies. I've worked in several IT jobs as well as a web developer creating e-commerce sites in ASP and ASP.NET using Visual Basic and C#.
