I am a professional writing major at Eastern Michigan University with a graphic communications minor. I will soon be starting an internship doing public relations work at a publishing company.
I have picked up many solid skills in technical writing, such as the ability to write memos, proposals, and technical reports. Additionally, I have learned how to utilize rhetoric in writing these documents, as each one is situationally dependent. In order to maximize the effectiveness of a writing genre, I have learned to analyze its audience, context (or entire situation), and purpose before writing it and to obtain feedback from people with different areas of content knowledge during the writing process.
