Workshop on Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk

Dr. Francis is an authorized trainer/presenter for the Suicide Prevention Resource Center’s Training Institute & American Association of Suicidology materials on Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk: Core Competencies for Mental Health Professionals in College and University Settings.  The workshop focuses on competencies that are core to assessing and managing suicide risk, especially in college and university settings.  Below you will find a list of the training events he has provided.

Should you wish to sponsor a workshop, the SPRC will provide your organization with a detailed Sponsor’s Guide that walks you through every step of the process.  Additionally, they will provide easy to use templates for marketing fliers and brochures.  In addition to scheduling trainers and providing the curriculum, they can process registrations, locate and negotiate contracts for training space and on-site services, and process CEUs, although many sponsors prefer to handle some or all of these responsibilities themselves.

Workshop on Aggression Management

Dr. Francis is also a certified trainer of aggression managers through the Center for Aggression Management.  Aggression Managers learn to identify aggressive behavior, foresee the possibility of conflict, engage and prevent aggression, before it becomes an incident.

This material is new to the Student Affairs area of higher education.  It is currently being adapted to help student affairs professionals deal appropriately with those persons (parents, students, other people with a relationship to the institution) who come to campus in a high level of emotional or cognitive energy and deescalate the situation so all people are safe and working towards a equitable solution.  Below you will find a list of the training events he has provided.

For more information on sponsoring a workshop, contact Dr. Francis at 734.487.4410 or by email at pcfrancis@sbcglobal.net.
