Home/Intro

My name is Robert Gordy and I am junior at Eastern Michigan University. I enjoy reading , so it was pretty easy for me to decide on a Secondary Ed. major with a focus on Language, Literature, and Writing (English). That major inevitably led me to this class,English 328, for which we have to create the website you are now viewing.

I have to admit that this class was nothing like I expected. I was under the impression that it would be similar to most other college writing classes, where we would talk about a subject, do a little reading, and write some papers (well I guess I wasn't that wrong LOL). Suprisingly, most of the class dealt directly with computers. I didn't like the idea initially, mainly because I didn't have regular access to computers and wasn't very savvy. After getting into the class for a few weeks, however, I saw how I could gain more experience with computers and their various functions. In addition to creating this website, I corresponded with classmates through email, and started my own blog.

I also gained a better understanding of technolology and the role it plays in the way we read, write, and process information. So many items people use everyday go unrecognized as technological learning tools. I actually elaborate on these points in my writings, which you can view by clicking on the links to the left. All this newly acquired knowledge can be applied in the classroom with my future students. With the emphasis that is being placed on computers and other digital technology these days, students may actually be able to teach me even more than I'm teaching them. This class gives me a bit of a base to be more open to the coming educational technological advances.
