country’s first thematic satellite dedicated exclusively for educational services, into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) on September 20, 2004, from Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR (SDSC SHAR), Sriharikota. This was the first operational flight of GSLV (GSLV-F01) and the third in the GSLV series.
Often enough we speak of developing maps using Oracle Locator/Spatial and MapViewer. However, being that Oracle is not a GIS tool vendor, I've been asked, "how then do we develop web-based maps?"
To that, the following steps describe the easiest way to build a totally dynamic, scalable, extensible, web-based map in 10 clicks or less. Also, I've created a self-running demo that essentially describes the same thing at: http://gehlpad.oracleicenter.com/isdfiles/viewlets/MapViewer_viewlet_swf.html
1) With MapViewer (MV) installed, the MV tag library for JDeveloper 10g configured, and under a NEW application workspace and project, right-click on the new project (or view controller) and click new>Web Tier>JSP Page>OK. Rename the JSP whatever you like.
2) With the new JSP source selected, within the body tags, and with the MapViewer Tag Library selected, click init. Fill in the 3 fields with the required information. The last field, ID, although not required may be important (and will mean less code) later: so create an easy to type ID, like "mvHandle" as well.
3) Next, click the setParam tag and with the cursor blinking on the instide of the tag (to the left of the "/>"), fill in the fields in the Property Inspector (see the code below for example).
4) After your finished with the setParam tag, click the run tag - there is no input needed for the run tag.
5) Set you cursor below the run tag, select the HTML tag library and click image>OK (no input needed).
6) Set you cursor in the middle of the quotes, within the image tag (<img
src=""/>), and go back to the MapViewer Tag Library. Click on the getMapURL tag.
7) Finally, to test your new map, click on the stop light symbol at the top JDeveloper. You should soon see the map you've created.
Now that you've created a simple JSP page with a map, you can begin to mark-up the page and code however you like. You can even do some cool dynamic things using the MV Java classes and url parameters.
