The Multiple Composer is an experiment. It is the compilation of different writing methods and ideas based on the internet and technological communication. It is, for lack of a better explanation, the brain child of Tom Black, a graduate student at Eastern Michigan University.
As said, this website is an experiment, or rather a collection of experiments based on writing and an examination of where technology is taking reading, writing, and literacy skills. The idea is to test or "play with" the new writing mediums that appear on the WWW on a regular basis. I also hope to catalog interesting moments in web communication which may be relevant to aspects of written communication and how that applies to teaching writing on and for the WWW, or composition and rhetoric in general.
I believe this is one of the more neglected aspects of writing in freshman composition classes. More writing is done online now than ever before and is widely regarded as being the dominant form of written communication, yet there is a lack of computer related composition classes within liberal arts colleges. Hence the purpose of this page is to demonstrate the amounts and variety of writing done on and for the internet, and the implications this has for college composition instruction.
