My Teaching Philosophy

I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember.  My second grade teacher, Ms. Judy Berstein was my inspiration.  I wanted to be just like her.  I wanted to do what she did.  She was so kind and thoughtful.  She made things simple that had once seemed complex.  She made me want to be a teacher like her.  My love of social studies combined with my dream of becoming a teacher is how I decided I wanted to be a secondary social studies teacher.

My goal is to teach social studies to students in a way that generates genuine understanding of history and current social issues.  I want to help mold students into not only successful students, but successful people that will be able to give something back to the community, and to the world.  I do not believe in lost causes or failures.  I believe that every student has the potential to be successful.  It is my job as a teacher to give them the tools for success.  It is also my responsibility to help students set goals and assist them with reaching those goals.

Teaching technology and incorporating technology into curriculum is an important aspect in students’ education.  Students have to be able to use computers in the world today.  Students need time during class to use computers and work with different types of technology.
