Hi!  My name is Jaclyn Stevens.  I am a post-baccalaureate student at Eastern Michigan University.  I am working towards Secondary Education Certification in Social Studies (Minor: Geography).  I hope to do my student teaching in Winter of 2008 and begin teaching in the fall.  I got my first taste of teaching as an English teacher at a Japanese middle school in Nagano and am eager to get back into a classroom (and possibly back to Japan)!

This website is designed as an electronic portfolio presenting my work in a semester course (EDMT 330) integrating technology and education.  The website is organized to demonstrate my ability to meet the six ISTE NETS technology standards for prospective teachers.  Many of the projects, research, and discussions that I produced or participated in involved goals or concepts previously outside of my skill range.  I'm grateful for the opportunity and challenge of producing this portfolio as it has not only equipped me with a toolbox of ways to use technology in class but also introduced me to the vast number of complications and issues surrounding technology in schools, particularly in poorly planned use of technology.

The work produced for this portfolio was designed for use within a year-long 7th grade Social Studies curriculum.  It includes activities that would be undertaken within units on Western European, African, and Asian Geography and Culture.
