As associate professor and librarian at Eastern Michigan University's  Library, I work to improve library services for instruction, learning and research.  I offer reference assistance and classroom instruction on library research. In recent years I have coordinated outreach to EMU faculty through our liaison program; I have been the subject librarian for the Departments of World Languages and Sociology, Anthropology and Criminology, an affiliate of the Department of Women's and Gender Studies and I have helped maintain the library's resources for Asian Studies. I've spent several years in Indonesia and in India. In 2008 I spent January-April in Hikone, Japan at the Japan Center for Michigan Universities (JCMU), teaching an anthropology class and soaking up as much as I could about Japanese culture and librarianship.  My current research projects include libraries and librarianship in India and Japan, and teaching about plagiarism in US universities.

For the 2010-2011 academic year I am serving as interim Director of the Faculty Development Center.

My Education:
Carolina Friends School
Bachelor of Arts, Bryn Mawr College
PhD in Cultural Anthropology, University of Pennsylvania
Masters of Science in Library Information Services and Archives, University of Michigan
