Introduction

Have you ever wondered where animals live? How they live? How they communicate? By using this webquest, you are going to research where animals may live, how they communicate and how they live. Once you have done some research you are going to create your OWN species and the habitat that it lives in!

It is also in this section that you'll communicate the Big Question (Essential Question, Guiding Question) that the whole WebQuest is centered around.

The Task

You will be visiting two websites, each describing different habitats and the kind of animals that live in them. On a sheet of paper you will write one paragraph each about four different habitats and list three to five animals that live in each habitat.

Your final project will be created your own species in its own habitat.

The Process

#1 On a sheet of paper, you will write a paragrpagh describing each habitat you have choosen, at least four. You should include the following in your paragraph:

  • Climate
  • Location
  • Type of land (hills, flat, mountains, etc.)
  • Types of Vegetation
  • 3-5 animals

To accomplish the task, you must visit the following websites:

http://lib.colostate.edu/wildlife/places.html

http://lib.colostate.edu/wildlife/types.html

#2. Once you have gathered information about your chossen habitats, you will be able to create your very OWN species! Follow these steps in doing so:

  1. Decide what kind of habitat you would like your new species to live in
  2. Write a paragrapgh describing your new species:
    1. Does it have fur? Skin? Hair?
    2. What does it eat?
    3. Have claws? Fangs?
    4. Long tail? No tail? Short Tail?
    5. Can it see?
    6. Name your new species
  3. Draw a picture of your new species in its habitat
    1. Must have color

While doing your research, go to this website and keep these tips in mind:
