A Little About Me

I am from the Motor City, Detroit, Michigan. I was born and raised their until I left home to attend Eastern Michigan University. One of my favorite things to do is to spend time with my husband Keith and my two children, Keith III and Kennady. I also enjoy reading for pleasure. I have excellent people skills, and get along easily with others. I am majoring in Language Arts, and I hope to teach the third grade. I will be student teaching in the Fall semester of 2008.

My Teaching Philosophy

I have wanted to become a teacher dating back to the second grade. As I matured, I realized that becoming a teacher would be the way for me to contribute to the cause of making the world a better place. Outside of home, school is where children are being molded into the adults that they will become. I feel that I can make a difference, even if it is in just one child's life.

My objectives as a teacher includes being a positive role model in the lives of my students. I will also strive to reach those students who may need a little more attention than others. Lastly, I intend to not only teach my students academic content, but things that pertain to the real world as well. I believe that all students learn differently, and all of my lessons must be approached according to this belief. I plan to integrate technology into my classroom and lessons in everyway possible. Computers, calculators, overhead projectors, listening devices with earphones, microphones and other types of technology that are considered not traditional are all forms of technology that I plan to use in my classroom. I believe that the use of technology in the classroom is important because it lends to one of the objectives that I have as a teacher, and that is real world experiences. Our world is becoming more technological every minute, and there are many adults out there who cannot even turn on a computer. I want my students to be able to compete for the best jobs when they enter the real world. I believe that in order for them to be able to do this will require them to have at least minimal technological skills.

Technology Tip

Did You Know?
The Tab key can be used interchangably with mouse pad  in order to move through fields. For example, when filling out an aplication online, instead of using the mouse to go from the first name field to the last name field, use the Tab key instead!
