Malachi Bowerbank

Front-end Web Developer

About Me

I started attending Eastern Michigan University in September of 2012 under their Simulation, Animation, and Gaming degree with prospects of being a 3D generalist. I had always loved visual media and using graphic applications and being able to learn animation seemed like a great opportunity. During my time in the program I took a couple courses on Java which really sparked my interest in programming and the creative problem-solving that comes with it that was much different that traditional academics. However by fall 2016 due to limited faculty availability and ongoing schedule complications, I decided to switch my major to Communication Technology. While trying to find my fit in the degree, I took a course on web publishing that outlined the basics of HTML and CSS. The course peaked my interest in web development and I started learning more concepts in my spare time.

For me, web development was a nice blend that combined my interested in graphic/visual media and my newfound interest in programming. It didn't take long for me to decide on it as my career path. While I have only been at it for a little over a year, I feel as though I've made great strides in my abilities and hope to continue to learn and grow. My current goal is to get proficient with JavaScript and JS related systems like angularjs and nodejs so that I may experience the back end and mold myself into a full stack web developer.
