Prof. Sanchez's most
recent academic accomplishment is the publication of his paper
Extraction of Multidimensional Geometric Invariants from Range Dependent
in an issue of the international journal
Multidimensional Systems and Signal Processing.
presents, among other contributions, a novel application of the Singular Value
Decomposition (SVD). This decomposition is a mathematical tool that can be used
as a 'knowledge filter' in all kinds of knowledge database environments. The SVD
can also be applied to Data Analysis, Data Mining, and to establish priorities
in Decision Support Systems application software. The SVD has also been used as
a filter for encryption in computer security systems. The paper was coauthored
with two other researchers.
In addition, Prof. Sanchez was invited to
deliver a set of lectures on the Singular Value Decomposition (and other Matrix
Algebra applications) to an international audience of Economists and Social
Scientists affiliated with the Inter-university Consortium for Political and
Social Research (ICPSR). The lectures were delivered during the Educational
Summer Program of the Consortium, which was based this past summer (2003) at the
University of Michigan, Ann Arbor , Michigan .
